NORD MODULAR G2 Virtual Modular Synthesizer

Imagine having over four thousand completely customizable synths in one instrument ...

The original synthesizers were giant room-sized machines that consisted of multiple modules - some that created sound, and others that affected the sound and each other - that literally hd to be physically patched together with audio and CV cables. Once a particular sound was created, its diagram was documented and called a "patch". Eventually, synthesizers evolved into a more contained space which could be carried around. The modules were hard-wired together, and eventually specific sounds could be stored in digital memory - the term "patch" stuck. These newer synths, though more portable, had a fixed and limited architecture and weren't able to create the vast array of sounds their behemoth ancestors could.

In 2001, Clavia brought modular synthesis out of laboratories and into home studios with the Nord Modular. Four years later, more advanced hardware design was incorporated, and the Nord Modular G2 was born.

The concept is simple - by connecting the Modular G2 to a computer, you can create modular synthesizer models using software, then save the sound to the keyboard itself. You can take an entire modular studio on stage with you every night, and leave the computer at home. There are several phenomenal features inherent in the G2's design.

The G2 Editor software uses very little of your computer's power since all the actual processing is happening on the G2 itself. Since every program on the G2 is a different synthesizer, and there are 4,096 program locations, you have the potential for nearly 4,100 different synth models all in one instrument. The G2's Variation section allows eight variations - think of them as patches - per program, allowing you to instantly recall over 32,000 sounds in a performance!

Using the drag-and-drop G2 Editor, you can select any number of modules - oscillators, LFOs, filters, logic matrices, and many more - and connect them in uncountable ways. Once your synth model is constructed, you can easily assign multiple modules' parameters to the G2's physical encoders, giving you hands-on tweaking instead of using a mouse.
